Student Garners National Achievement Scholarship

Sijibomi Ibikunle ’08 has been awarded a prestigious 2008 National Achievement Scholarship. Ibikunle was one of 140,000 students who participated in the program, which is for Black Americans and is sponsored and conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
“Mercersburg is thrilled that Siji has been honored in this way by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation,” said Doug Hale, head of school. “He has worked extremely hard in school and is most deserving of this honor.”
Finalists in the competition were presented scholarships with a total value of $2.7 million. Ibikunle, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall.
