Sprinter Takes League and State Titles

Jordon
Exeter '07 captured first place in the league and state in two
events—and it's just his second year of competitive running.
"He's
incredible. It's a pleasure to work with a talent like this," says
Chief of Security Skip
Sydnor, who coaches the team's sprinters. Betsy Willis is the team's
head coach.
Exeter, of Toronto,
runs the 100 meters and the 200 meters and finished the season
undefeated in both; he won the Mid-Atlantic Prep League
(MAPL) championship in both events and the state championship May 19.
Exeter's personal best in the 100m is 10.8 seconds,
which ranks
among Mercersburg's all-time top ten performances in the event. His
time is 0.2 seconds behind the Tri-State area's fastest in the 100m. In
the 200m, his best time is 22.7 seconds, good for third in the area.
Exeter also plays soccer and was a MAPL All-Star last year; he will
attend Ohio Wesleyan University in the fall.
As a team, the Mercersburg men finished second and the women were
fourth at the Pennsylvania state meet. Event champions on the men's
side included Exeter (100m/200m), Johannes Schlemmer '07 (300m
hurdles), Tyler Small '07 (3200m), David Strider '08 (high jump), Jin
Ho Baek '07 (pole vault), and the 4x100m relay team of Exeter, Brad
Williams '07, Cameron Jones '07, and Colin Jones '07. Champions on the
