The Storm opened the 2008 season with an assertive offense and a strong defensive effort, outscoring Southern Huntingdon 10-1. Annmargaret Warner'10 scored the first goal of the new campaign off an assist from Arcadia Hartung'09. Andrea Metz'10, Cammie Reilly'10, and Hartung each added goals to give Mercersburg a 5-0 advantage at halftime. The Storm continued its aggressive offense in the second half, led by senior captain Coralie Thomas' three goals. Goalkeeper Jane Banta'11 notched four saves, narrowly missing a shutout.
"We played a very controlled passing game and shot the ball well. The team did a good job of using the skills we have been practicing during preseason," commented Mercersburg head coach Gretchan Chace on the victory.
Notes: The Storm also defeated Southern Huntingdon (0-1) in 2007, a season that saw the team tie the school record for most victories in a season.
