Safety & Transportation
Day Students
We provide a parking lot for day students that drive to and from campus. To ensure the safety of all of our students, we ask that day students not move their cars during class hours, nor take boarding students in their cars. To help enforce these requests, lunch is provided for all students, including day students.
Boarding Students
For reasons of safety and space, we ask that boarding students not bring cars or motorcycles to campus. Boarding students are allowed to bring bicycles, skateboards, skates, or other forms of personal transportation for recreation and on-campus convenience.
Transportation to/from Campus
Mercersburg will help arrange transportation to and from airports as well as Amtrak stations in Harrisburg, Baltimore, and Martinsburg, West Virginia. When available, school drivers may provide necessary transportation, and we also arrange transportation with local car services.
Students are responsible for the cost of transportation, which is billed to their student account. However, students should be prepared with extra funds in case travel delays or cancellations arise. To help cut transportations costs, students might consider traveling in groups to and from airports or stations.
Excursion Transportation
There are many off-campus trips and adventures throughout the school year. Seven school vans and buses provide transportation for larger excursions. For smaller group trips and off-campus activities, the faculty adviser in charge of the event coordinates transportation.
Vacation and Travel Forms
To arrange transportation, download your transportation request and return it to Ms. Carol Ecton (Carol_Ecton@mercersburg.edu) in the transportation office. For busy times, such as end of term or upcoming vacations, students must turn in transportation requests at least 10 days prior to the start of vacation.
International students must inform the dean of students’ office where they will be during vacations. Contact Mrs Laurie Rice laurie_rice@mercersburg.edu with any questions or concerns.
